The enhance herts Skydive Team 2008

Twenty three intrepid fundraisers attended the 2008 enhance herts tandem skydive event on 13 July 2008 at the North London Parachute Centre in Chatteris.

The beautiful day was absolutely perfect for our jumpers, a gentle breeze, the cloud cover light - all we needed was an aeroplane! Unfortunately the regular plane was out of action, and we waited patiently for a replacement to arrive from Belgium before we could be sure anyone would jump on the day.

At 3.00 the plane arrived. The jumpers were harnessed to a professional skydiver and leapt from an aeroplane two miles above the Cambridgeshire countryside, freefalling at 120 miles an hour before the parachute was deployed and they floated gently down to the airfield below.

Those able to jump on the day were Dave Gray and his mother-in-law Christine Ingrey, husband and wife Gavin and Gemma Barrett, mother and daughter Julie and Amy Rosa, Sue Samme, Sue Smith, Valerie Homfrey-Cooper and Vicky Staples.

Jo Jarvis and Jo Barnes of The Comet, Rob Pearl, Adhalessa Rios-Vargas, Jean Robbins, Jenny Cullingford, Emma Page, Matt Treherne, Kate Costelloe, Barbra Higgins and Janine Flood (four radiography staff jumping as the Lead Arrows) Farrukh Sheikh, Lynne Dicker jumped on a later date.

enhance herts' fundraiser Suzanne Roynon said “The Skydivers raised over £15,000 this year. It was unfortunate that the absence of a plane for the morning meant we only managed to get ten jumpers up on the day, but that's the unpredictable nature of skydiving, and everyone was very understanding. Those who jumped loved it, and are already talking about doing it again next year”.
