“Lee Haynes was a young man loved and respected by everyone who knew him and will never be forgotten for his incredible drumming skills and his love of life.”

Lee's parents, Sue Williams and Dave Haynes are dedicated to raising funds with the Lee Haynes Memorial Nightingale Fund for the Lister Hospital's Renal Research Institute in the hope that the research undertaken there will prevent other lives being lost to renal failure. The new unit will be named in Lee's memory.

Sue says “I have had tremendous support for my charity work from everyone who knew Lee including his father, Lee's friends, my friends and Lee's consultant Dr Paul Warwicker FRCP MD.

“Various events have taken place to reach our target, but we need more money to help purchase specialist renal equipment. If you would like to raise money by organising an event or make a donation, please contact enhance herts, on 01438 781682.”

Sue does not come from a wealthy background, she works full time in a shop, but her sheer determination and focus have seen the Nightingale Fund raise over £12,500 so far in an area where hearts are considerably bigger than wallets.

Sue and Dave's exploits include a fancy dress six a side football competition, quiz nights, race nights, music events, fun days, sponsored events and constant money collections with pots finding homes in pubs, restaurants, clubs and shops in Sue's home town and further a-field.

It would be reasonable to say that Sue has left no stone unturned in Letchworth to raise money for her cause. She is an inspirational and amazing woman, who with the love and support of her friends and an overwhelming desire to take renal research to new levels, is making a real and significant difference to the charity.
