Nightingale: Improving lives by remembering loved ones
Although coping with bereavement is a very personal matter, losing a loved one is a time of great sorrow and reflection for all of us. Indeed, many relatives and friends find that channelling their energies into giving money to help other people in a similar situation can be a positive and therapeutic way of helping to overcome their grief.
Setting up a Nightingale Fund in someone's name is a very special way of remembering your loved one and celebrating his or her life. The Fund offers family, friends and colleagues the opportunity to contribute to a living memory that will acknowledge their life and their impact in a very personal way. A Nightingale Fund is easy to set up and manage, and we can help you at every step of the way. A Nightingale Fund is open to contributions from anyone and can be supported however you choose. You might, for example, prefer to remember birthdays, anniversaries and special dates, or you can give a regular gift.
There are also many different ways to actively raise money to support a Fund. Our Fundraising Ideas Information Sheet can help you to get started with a range of ideas, from coffee mornings to masked balls.
A Nightingale Fund is a lasting tribute and you can choose to direct the proceeds of the Fund you set up into one hospital; at one ward level, for example maternity; or at a specific condition, such as kidney disease. A Fund may also reflect the concerns and issues that were important to your loved one, which is another way of keeping their memory and values alive.
A Nightingale Fund can make a real difference to other families affected by bereavement.
Nightingale is part of enhance herts which raises money to support East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.
