Stevenage schools can distribute moneyboxes to every child and receive half of the money raised for their own use! When the Building Blocks moneyboxes are full they can be returned to the school, to the cash office at the Lister Hospital or to one of the following stores in Stevenage Town centre:
- Waterstone's
- Specsavers
- Marks & Spencer - Customer Services Desk
- Boots - Photography Counter
- Clubman of London Hairdressers - Stevenage Indoor Market

Children receive a scratchcard with a chance to win a prize for every full moneybox they hand in.
Town Centre Manager Tracey Parry was keen to get Building Blocks involved and raising money in Stevenage without delay, and only days later we were enjoying the Pancake Races held to celebrate Shrove Tuesday.
IJIG Dance Days on 3 May and 14 June
When Michel Ange Lau invented LeRoc (Modern Jive) back in the late 1970s, little did he know that it would end up being one of the most popular forms of partner dance in the new millennium.
Dance company IJIG has developed this original idea to incorporate other dance styles into the Modern Jive dance such as Salsa, West Coast Swing and Lindy Hop to provide a form of Modern Jive with fresh funky modern moves that rock.
Modern Jive is a stylish partner dance that is so easy to learn that it's perfect for people with ‘two left feet” and is so versatile that it can be danced to virtually any music that you hear on the radio or in clubs.
On Saturday 3 May and again on Saturday 14 June between 1pm and 3pm, members of IJIG will be in Stevenage Town Square to showcase these funky dance moves in aid of our charity of the year, Building Blocks.
So if you want to look impressive on the dance floor, make friends, get fit and have lots of fun into the bargain, come along to Stevenage town centre on these two dates and watch or join in. You're guaranteed to have fun and help support a worthy cause at the same time.
Knights and Wenches needed 5 July
Stevenage Town Centre's summer extravaganza for 2008 will be all about knights, castles and things medieval, and this year's event on 5th July will see charity of the year Building Blocks, benefitting from the proceeds. The charity is looking for volunteers to support the event and help it raise funds to benefit children, teens and babies at the Lister hospital.
Head of fundraising, Daniel Fletcher, commented, “We've been really delighted to work with the Stevenage Town Centre and are grateful for the events they have already organised this year that help Building Blocks. It's a great opportunity to be involved in Stevenage Summer Knights in July. We will need volunteers to help run a tombola, hand out balloons, hold collecting buckets, oversee some of the fun activities and generally assist the fundraising team. We are also interested in hearing from anyone who has prizes to donate for the tombola and other competitions.”
The event will kick off at 11am on Saturday 5 July, and volunteers can help out for the whole event or part of it. Volunteers should contact the Daniel Fletcher and Suzanne Roynon at the charity by calling 01438 781682.
